Waqrapukara ‘horn-shaped fortress’ is located in the province of Acomayo near the Apurimac River at 4,300 meters above sea level south of the city of Cusco and is considered a fortress and a sanctuary. The building is located on platforms, squares. Initially it was built by the Canchis and then conquered by the Incas.
This tour will take you to enjoy an unforgettable destination, where you will visit spectacular landscapes, lagoons, abysses, connecting with nature and the energy of the place.
We will pick you up at your hotel to start the trip to the province of Acomayo, where we will go through a circuit of lagoons until we reach the Qenterococha Lagoon (4,330 meters above sea level), where we will have breakfast.
Then we will start the hike to Waqrapukara, enjoying the Andean landscape, its flora, fauna and the view of the Apurimac Canyon. Arriving at the archaeological site, we will have a guided tour, followed by free time to explore and take pictures.
The return will be by a different and more accessible route. At the end of the hike, we will enjoy lunch and return to the city of Cusco, with estimated arrival at 19:00 hrs.
Pick up from your hotel at 04:30 am (if the hotel is near the main square of Cusco, otherwise we will coordinate a meeting point).
We pick you up from your hotel to start our trip to the province of Acomayo, we will enjoy a circuit of lagoons of the province, until we reach the starting point of our hike, arriving at the Qenterococha Lagoon (4,330 mts 14,138 ft) where you will have time for breakfast.
Then we will begin our hike to the Waqrapukara complex discovering the wildlife of the place along with the flora and fauna that provides the journey. We will take a break once we reach the first viewpoint of the fortress, and then continue until we reach our goal.
Finally, once we arrive to this incredible place, we will start the tour with our guide who will give us all the necessary information to explore the place, then you will have some free time to rest and take pictures.
Then we will take a different and easier way back to the beginning of the trail, where we can appreciate different views of the Apurimac Canyon, once in the place you can enjoy a comforting lunch, then continue the journey to the city of Cusco in the mobility that awaits us, arriving approximately around 19:00 hrs.
