Itinerary at a glance
The tour will take us through the history of Cusco, the capital of the Incas, considered the “navel of the world”. We will start at the Plaza de Armas, where we will explore the original design and location of the Inca temples. Then, we will visit the Plaza Regocijo to learn about its function in the time of the Inca Qosqo. We will continue to San Francisco Square and San Pedro Market, where we will discover typical products. Afterwards, we will walk along Loreto Street to the Temple of the Virgins of the Sun. The next stop will be the Qorikancha, the most important religious center of the Incas, and we will finish in the neighborhood of San Blas, known for its artisans.
Itinerary
Starting point
Pick up from your hotel (if the hotel is near the main square of Cusco, otherwise we will coordinate a meeting point).
Language of the guide
- Start: daily departures at 9:30 am, duration 2:30 hrs.
- Our visit will be a journey through time knowing the history of Cusco, capital of the Incas, considered by them the “navel of the world” from where the four roads that connected all corners of the empire with its capital departed.
- The tour begins in the Plaza de Armas also called Plaza Aucaypata. Here, we will describe the original design of the square and show visitors the location of the main Inca temples and buildings.
- Then we will go to the Plaza Regocijo also called Plaza Cusipata. In this place, we will discover the functions that this square fulfilled in the time of the Inca Qosqo.
- We will continue our tour to San Francisco Square.
- Then we will visit the San Pedro Market, where we will learn about different typical products of the region.
- Continuing with our tour we will go to Loreto Street towards the Temple of the Virgins of the Sun or Acllwasi.
- Our next stop will be at the Qorikancha or Temple of Gold, considered the most important religious center of the Incas, where the Willac Umuc lived, the highest priest, member of the royal family.
- Our final destination will be the neighborhood of San Blas, known as the neighborhood of artisans, characterized by its beautiful narrow and peaceful streets. On the way we will make a stop at the famous stone of the 12 angles.
