We will start the tour heading by bus to the south of Cusco, enjoying along the way impressive landscapes of the Andean mountain range. Our first stop will be the archaeological center of Tipon, an important Inca ceremonial site, which highlights a system of stone canals that regulated the flow of water from the heights of the Pachatusan hill to the lowlands of the valley.
Next, we will visit the archaeological complex of Pikillaqta, which means “city of fleas”. This ancient walled citadel belonged to the Wari culture and was one of the most important regional centers during its expansion into the Cusco region.
Finally, we will visit the Church of Andahuaylillas, a true jewel of the colonial period, known as ‘The Sistine of America’. Inside, we will be surprised by an impressive collection of canvases with frames bathed in gold leaf, baroque altarpieces, mural paintings and, among other treasures, the famous pentalingual door.
