Itinerary at a glance
We will start the trip to Cusipata (1h 40 min) to enjoy breakfast. Then, we will continue to Combapata and ascend along the banks of the Salka River, passing through the community of Palccoyoc, until we reach Huallata Q’asa (4790 masl), the starting point of the hike.
The hike takes approximately 30 minutes to the first viewpoint (4900 masl), where we will observe the colorful mountain. Then we will descend briefly to continue to the second viewpoint, overlooking another colorful mountain, and finally to the third viewpoint, from where we can see an impressive forest of stones. We will have free time to explore and take pictures before returning to the starting point.
On the way back, we will head back to Cusipata to enjoy lunch, and then we will start our return trip to Cusco, with an estimated arrival at 17:00 hours.
Itinerary
Starting point
Pick up from your hotel 04:30 am – 05:00 am (if the hotel is near the main square of Cusco, otherwise we will coordinate a meeting point).

- We start the trip towards Cusipata for an average of 1 hour 40 minutes to enjoy a delicious breakfast, then we will continue our journey towards Combapata and continue the journey uphill for almost 2 hours by the left bank of the Salka River, passing through the community of Palccoyoc, finally we will arrive at the starting point of our hike to Huallata Q’asa located at 4790 meters above sea level, to reach the starting point of our journey.
- The starting point of the hike is located at 4790 masl from where we will begin a 30 minute walk to the first viewpoint located at 4900 masl, from this point we can observe and explain the first mountain of colors, we will have a previous descent to continue to the second viewpoint where we will appreciate the second mountain of colors of Palccoyoc, we will continue our adventure and arrive at the last viewpoint where we will appreciate a wonderful forest of stones, we will have free time to take the corresponding photos and explore this magnificent area, and then return to the starting point of our hike.
- Upon return we will board our vehicle to go to the district of Cusipata, where we will have a delicious lunch.
- After lunch we return to the city of Cusco, we will be arriving at 17:00 hours approximately.
