The 2 day / 1 night tour gives you the opportunity to explore the most impressive Inca archaeological sites around Cusco, culminating with an unforgettable visit to the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu. Cusco, ancient capital of the Inca Empire, is the perfect starting point for this journey full of history, culture and mysticism.
This tour will allow you to experience the fusion between the Inca legacy and the colonial heritage, in an environment full of magic, tradition and wonder, where every step connects you with the glorious past of the Andes.
We will start the tour visiting Qoricancha, the most important temple of the Incas, known as the “Golden Enclosure”, dedicated to the sun. Then, we will explore the Cathedral of Cusco, a jewel of religious art, which houses approximately 300 paintings of the Cusco School. We will continue to Sacsayhuaman, an impressive archaeological complex with large stones that form a zigzagging wall and offer panoramic views of Cusco and the sacred peaks.
We will also visit Q’enqo (Labyrinth), a religious center of earth worship, and Puca Pucara, an ancient military control center. We will finish in Tambomachay, the Temple of Water, noted for its aqueducts and waterfalls carved in rock.
Early the next day, we will depart by bus to Ollantaytambo or Poroy station to board a train to Machu Picchu town (Aguas Calientes). Once there, we will take a 40-minute bus ride to reach the citadel of Machu Picchu, where we will enjoy a guided tour of approximately 2.5 hours. After the visit, we will return to Aguas Calientes to take the train back to Ollantaytambo or Poroy, where a private transportation will take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
Pick up from your hotel at the coordinated time, (if the hotel is near the main square of Cusco) otherwise we will coordinate the meeting point.
At a previously arranged time, our transfer will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco to take you to the train station in Ollantaytambo or Poroy, where you will board the tourist train to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes).
Once in Aguas Calientes, we will go to the bus station to begin an ascent of approximately 40 minutes to reach the imposing citadel of Machu Picchu.
Upon arrival, you will be amazed by the majesty and natural environment of this ancient Inca sanctuary. Accompanied by our professional guide, you will tour the main sectors of the citadel while discovering its history, architecture and the enigmas that this wonder of the world still holds. The guided tour will last approximately 2 hours and a half, with free time to take pictures and enjoy the place at your own pace.
After the visit, we will descend again by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have time to have lunch or rest before boarding the return train. The return time will depend on the type of ticket purchased. Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo or Poroy station, private transportation will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
